Back to the Pack?

Brett Favre (R) was expected to hand the reigns to backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers this year after retiring. (AP)

PLAYER UPDATES Provided By SportsBuff.com
Player: Joey Porter LB, Miami Dolphins 07/05/08, Time: 12:20 pm
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Porter is excited about new coordinator Paul Pasqualoni and his system. Pasqualoni was the linebackers coach for Dallas' 3-4 scheme last year that produced double-digit tackles from both starting outside linebackers.
 Analysis:

It's just nice to see Porter running his mouth about something positive for a change. He could produce some moderate IDP value, as he did put up 5.5 sacks last year and seven the year before. Porter's certainly no early pick, though. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Keenan Burton WR, St. Louis Rams 07/04/08, Time: 4:49 pm
News: Buton agreed to a three year deal with the Rams.
 Analysis:

Burton was a fourth round pick for the Rams in the Draft and should compete for playing time with fellow rookie Donnie Avery for the third receiver position. (Marc Pruitt/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Derrick O. Johnson LB, Kansas City Chiefs 07/04/08, Time: 12:14 pm
News: Pro Football Weekly reports that the Chiefs plan to blitz their linebackers more this season, particularly Johnson, in hopes of keeping the pass rush strong without Jared Allen.
 Analysis:

Johnson put up 8.5 sacks over the past two seasons, so there's definite potential there. He's a pretty strong IDP candidate anyway, so adding a few more sacks would only make him even more attractive. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)
