Comments:  Byrnes was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL on Tuesday. Byrnes appears to be struggling with a left hamstring injury that has kept him out since June 30. The move to the 60-day DL will keep him out until the end of August.

Comments:  Gonzalez was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a right elbow strain. He struck out the side in order in his one inning on Friday, but injured the elbow. He's 1-3 with a 6.00 ERA in 17 appearances - six of them starts - this year.

Player Pos Date Injury Status Expected Return
Tom Glavine SP August 15, 2008 Torn flexor tendon, left elbow on 60-day DL March 30, 2009
Comments:  Glavine is out for the season, and his illustrious career could be over if he needs major surgery on his left elbow. He still hopes to return next year - unless he needs elbow ligament replacement surgery. A 300-game winner, the 42-year-old said Saturday he will be examined by Dr. James Andrews next week in Alabama. Glavine, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a torn flexor tendon in his left elbow, plans to have surgery to repair the tendon.
Tim Hudson SP July 27, 2008 Right elbow surgery - out for season on 60-day DL August 1, 2009
Comments:  Hudson is clinging to the slimmest of hopes that he might be able to avoid Tommy John surgery. He has been getting treatment and will attempt to throw this weekend, even though at least two doctors have determined he needs ligament replacement surgery. The recovery period for such an operation is generally about a year, which means the pitcher would miss good chunk of next season as well.
Chuck James SP September 13, 2008 Left shoulder surgery - out for season day-to-day July 3, 2009
Comments:  James will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a tear in his rotator cuff on Friday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He's hoping to return during the second half of the 2009 season.
Charlie Morton SP September 12, 2008 Right abdominal soreness day-to-day March 27, 2009

Peter Moylan RP April 12, 2008 Right elbow surgery - out for season on 60-day DL March 1, 2009
Comments:  Moylan will miss the rest of the season after having elbow-ligament replacement surgery Thursday. Dr. James Andrews operated on Moylan's right elbow in Birmingham, Ala., after finding a bone spur had broken off and compromised the ligament, Braves spokesman Brad Hainje said. Moylan opened the season as the setup man to closer Rafael Soriano, who is on the disabled list with a sore elbow. Moylan was 0-1 with one save and a 1.59 ERA this season.
Jeff Ridgway RP September 22, 2008 Bone chips, left elbow day-to-day March 30, 2009
Comments:  Ridgway will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery Saturday to remove bone chips from his elbow.
John Smoltz SP June 3, 2008 Right shoulder surgery - out for season on 60-day DL March 29, 2009
Comments:  Smoltz had surgery Tuesday to repair the labrum in his right shoulder and his hopes for a comeback in 2009 remain uncertain. Baltimore Orioles
Player Pos Date Injury Status Expected Return
Matt Albers RP June 26, 2008 Torn labrum, right shoulder on 60-day DL March 30, 2009
Comments:  Albers is done for the season, and will be sent home Friday. Albers was placed on the DL on June 26 with what the team described as right shoulder inflammation, but he's trying to avoid surgery on a torn labrum. He's throwing better, but it still takes him a long time to warm up, which led Trembley to dismiss the notion of bringing him back this season.
Danys Baez RP March 21, 2008 Right elbow surgery - out for season on 60-day DL March 30, 2009
Comments:  Baez, who is rehabbing from elbow surgery, had a minor setback a couple weeks ago but is throwing again at 120 feet. Orioles manager Dave Trembley said Baez is a month behind closer Chris Ray, who is not expected to return until August. This likely makes Baez's return for this season questionable.
Daniel Cabrera SP September 14, 2008 Right medial elbow sprain off 15-day DL April 6, 2009
Comments:  Cabrera won't pitch again this season because of a strained elbow. Comments:  Orioles left-hander Adam Loewen has abandoned his career as a pitcher because of a stress fracture in his left elbow, the same injury that sidelined him last season and twice put him on the disabled list this year. Loewen, 24, intends to return to the majors as an outfielder.
Jim Miller RP September 26, 2008 Right arm soreness day-to-day March 30, 2009
Comments:  Manager Dave Trembley says Miller is likely done for the season after suffering an injury just before he finished his warmup pitches on Tuesday night, the Washington Post reports. He apparently felt pain under his right armpit and woke up Wednesday with soreness and discoloration in the area.

Comments:  Patton underwent season-ending shoulder surgery, delaying the left-hander's debut with the Baltimore Orioles until at least 2009.
Chris Ray RP March 21, 2008 Recovery from right elbow surgery on 60-day DL March 26, 2009

The right-hander hopes to start pitching in minor league games around August 1. "I was excited to progress to that part," said Ray, who resumes working off the mound Monday.
Dennis Sarfate RP September 10, 2008 Right distal clavicle fracture off 15-day DL April 6, 2009
Comments:  Sarfate, who has been pitching with an injured clavicle since April, underwent a CT scan and is deciding whether to have surgery Sarfate hasn't pitched since Sept. 9, and is 4-3 with a 4.74 ERA in 57 games - including four starts - for the Orioles this season.

Comments:  The Red Sox have removed Lowell from their first-round postseason roster on because of a right hip strain.
Julio Lugo SS July 12, 2008 Strained left quad on 60-day DL March 30, 2009
Comments:  Lugo's season is likely over, the Providence Journal reported. The shortstop hasn't played since the All-Star break due to a torn quadriceps, and with rookie Jed Lowrie playing well in his return, there's little reason for the Red Sox to rush him back.
Curt Schilling SP March 13, 2008 Right shoulder surgery - out for season on 60-day DL April 6, 2009
Comments:  Schilling moved closer to throwing a bullpen session in the near future, according to the Boston Globe. There is still not timetable for Schilling's return from right biceps degeneration, which has kept him out all season.

He writhed in pain, clutching his ankle, and needed help to walk off the field.
Joe Crede 3B September 2, 2008 Reaggravated lower back inflammation day-to-day March 30, 2009
Comments:  Frustrated by his latest bout with a sore back that has left him sidelined during his team's push for the playoffs, Crede will seek a second opinion. When his back flared up, he spent a month on the disabled list from July 25-Aug. 24 and most recently hasn't played since Sept. 2, when it acted up again. He received his second injection of the year last Friday to help with the pain. He will see a specialist in Dallas next week.
