PLAYER UPDATES Provided By SportsBuff.com
Player: Eric Gagne RP, Milwaukee Brewers 07/05/08, Time: 9:41 pm
 Status:
Steady
News: Gagne worked a solid top of the ninth inning against the Pirates on Sunday and earned his third win of the season.
 Analysis:

This was Gagne's second appearance since returning to the Brewers. He has provided two decent innings of relief and may be returning to the closer role sooner or later for Milwaukee. Keep an eye on him. (Perry Missner/SportsBuff.com)

Player: David Bush SP, Milwaukee Brewers 07/05/08, Time: 9:39 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Bush allowed one run for the third start in his last four. He limited the Pirates to one run on four hits and no walks, but did not receive more than one run of support and got a no decision.
 Analysis:

Bush lowered his ERA to 4.74 and struck out a season high seven batters. Bush has been quite effective of late, but I wouldn't break the bank to get him. He's more of a mix and match type of starter, so treat him as such. (Perry Missner/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tyler Yates RP, Pittsburgh Pirates 07/05/08, Time: 9:35 pm
 Status:
Cold
News: Yates failed in his first attempt to replace Matt Capps as the Pirates ninth inning man. He allowed three base runners (two hits and a walk) in the bottom of the ninth against the Brewers.
 Analysis:

Yates has been mentioned as one of the possibilities to replace Capps as the Pirates closer. Granted, the game on Saturday did not represent a save opportunity because the game was tied, but Yates (who has a 1.54 WHIP) has not inspired confidence. I think Damaso Marte gets the most save opportunities for the Pirates. (Perry Missner/SportsBuff.com)
